Waupaca County Fair ~ Weyauwega
Waupaca County Fair had an html website created several years ago which didn't offer the flexibility necessary for quick updates and ease of use on modern devices.
Jeremy Schroeder, the fair manager had this to say about their existing site:
"Our website was very out-of-date and not serving the purpose and focus of our business. The old website was hard to navigate and had severe limitations which in turn did not represent the business properly or help advance the business by drawing in more clients. We needed an interactive website that allowed customers to access all information, purchase advance tickets and have links to other businesses and desired information."
The Project Brief
The new website had to be easy to maintain and keep updated. Many aspects of the website change from year to year and keeping it current was a very high priority. With a high volume of information within the website, it was important to make everything easily accessible for a variety of users.
In order to keep the website easy to navigate we decided to create multiple navigation areas which would allow visitors to find the information they needed immediately without searching through multiple drop downs. We also decided to create a countdown timer which could be easily updated each year as soon as the new fair date was set. The fair book was implemented into the website both as a downloadable pdf and as individual pages so they could be easily accessed any time.
Our post project process involves a few questions to help us improve future projects. One of these questions asks: "How has Social, Web Design & Marketing helped your company?" Jeremy's response to this question was:
"Providing an eye-catching, user friendly, informative, and welcoming website for customers of all ages. We now have marketing attraction due to photos, easy access to a variety of information needed and wanted by customers."
